It was in 1956 a large group of drivers at the wheels of their noisy cars came together under the Arch of the Meloncello to complete in those 2 kilometres that tire the legs of the faithfull who walk all the way to reach the Basilica of the Lady of San Luca.
The 1st race was won by the great Giulio Gabianca.

That victory brought prestige to this event and in 1957 and 1958 the number of participants increased enormously two memorable events saw the triumph of important names Edorado Lualdi  and Odoardo Gouoni after this the event ceased for some 47 years, then in 2004 the race was brought back to life, bringing the race cars back to the centre of Bologna racing from the Arch of the Meloncello to the Basilica, the race now has the name of The Monte Carlo of the Slopes.
