About Mike Archer Photography
Ocean Ajax

Mike’s position within the Ocean organisation was to develop the insurance broking arm outside of the in house division that existed. He developed insurance policies that made it possible for Race Car owners to insure cars on track and in transit, it was to this end that he became involved with many motor racing legends such as Eddie Jordon…Gordon Spice Racing…Chevron race cars, and Tiga race cars to mention just a few.

It was by coincidence that during a meeting with Auto sport Magazine we decided to run a photographic competition. The winner of the best action photo of the car would receive a prize of a day with the Magnum F3 team at the supporting race of the 1983 British Grand Prix.

The winner of that competition was at that time the undiscovered talent of Peter Collins who has now become author of many Italian based Motoring authorative books. He was also a founder member of Auto Italia Magazine. Peter was also involved in the set up of the on-line magazine Retro-Speed.

Peter also had a photographic archive of pictures that he had taken since the late 50’s, his local circuit at that time was Crystal palace. It was his interest in Motor Sport photography that led Mike into shadowing him at many motor sport events. Eventually Mike joined the Retro-Speed team as a photographer in 2009 under the leadership of Peter Baker Editor in Chief and Peter Collins as international Editor & photographer.

Mike is a member of Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) and the Alfa Romeo owners club, he also hold a Motor Sports Association (MSA) press pass to enable track side pictures.

Public Liability insurance cover is held (1m)
Mike Archer has many archive pictures and can provide anything from digital images to fully framed prints to high quality gilichi printing.
